Family-friendly days out over Christmas in Manchester

We might be biased but Christmas in Manchester is always magical and if you’re looking for some memorable days out with the kids this season, there are plenty to choose from. Here are some of our favourites at Kaytons.

Manchester Christmas Markets

We can’t create a list of Christmas activities in Manchester and not include the Markets. Every year the city is filled with food stalls, decorations, rides and independent sellers – all of which make the perfect festive afternoon. This year the stalls will be there until after the New Year.

Ice skating

Skate Manchester is back with the city’s winter ice rink until the 4th January. There’s music, nearby cafes and the rink itself is covered making it a brilliant day for all ages and weather conditions.

Santa at Chill Factore

Not only is the Chill Factore a day out in itself but this month you can meet Santa. He and his helpers will be there until Christmas Eve and everyone that meets him will receive a gift. Don’t forget to book a slot for sledging while you’re there too.

Lightopia at Heaton Park

Light trails have quickly become a popular family tradition during the festive season and one of the best around has to be the one at Heaton Park. The illuminated trail is enchanting for children and adults alike, with themed zones and spectacular light shows.

Festive theatre shows

If you want to stay away from the cold, a trip to one of Manchester’s many theatres is sure to impress – and there’s plenty of unforgettable Christmas performances. The Lowry, HOME and Palace Theatre all have festive specials on for various ages and interests.

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre’s Christmas Bricktacular

Up until the 30th December, the Trafford Centre is hosting holiday-themed builds, festive characters and hands-on creative fun. The best bit is that it’s all indoors making it ideal for a rainy Manchester day.

Tatton Park

Just outside of the city, Tatton Park transforms into a Christmas wonderland every year. Expect beautifully decorated rooms, festive trails, farmyard fun and seasonal treats. It’s a great choice for families who love nature and history.

One thing’s for sure, whatever the perfect family day out looks like for you this Christmas, Manchester has something to offer. And, finally, from everyone at Kaytons, we wish you a warm and wonderful Christmas season in our fantastic city.
