Celebrate Manchester Day!

Since 2010, Manchester Day has become an annual celebration of all things Mancunian, bringing together local communities in a day of fun and festivities. This Sunday, 19 June, will see one of the largest Manchester Day celebrations, directed by local creative team, Walk the Plank.

This year’s theme is Eureka! tying in with Manchester’s role as European City of Science for 2016. The Town Hall will be transformed in to The Brain Box ‘an interactive labyrinth of invention and innovation’ where young and old can discover the wonders of the brain. You can interact with scientists, learn through engaging exhibitions and get involved in hands-on activities.

There will, of course, be the fantastic Manchester Day Parade, starting at 1pm from Liverpool Street and winding its way through the city to Exchange Square. It is expected to finish by 2.30pm so don’t miss out!

Feeling hungry? Head to one of the many squares in Manchester’s city centre to grab a bite to eat from the pop-up food venues. There will be something to tempt everyone’s taste buds.

If you’re planning on heading into the city to join in the festivities, check for any road closures before you leave home. There will be changes to access roads due to the parade and some parking restrictions. Your best option is to catch public transport and avoid the hassle of parking your car!
