27 Nov Christmas Cheer in Manchester
As the cold weather arrives and the dark nights settle in, so too does the festive spirit! Yes, the Christmas markets are here! It started Saturday 14 November and goes on until Monday 22 December! You can sip gluhwein, gorge on bratwurst and snap up some handcrafted Christmas gifts along with plenty of other continental delights in what promises to be Manchester’s biggest year of markets to date.
There’ll be plenty to see, do and eat with stalls stationed throughout the city. The main hub will be outside the Manchester Town Hall where a giant glowing Santa will look down upon all of the festivities. There will also be chalets in Market Street, Cathedral Gardens and Exchange Square, outside the recently upgraded Corn Exchange.
This year’s new edition is The Mill in Exchange Square – a two storey beer house with a smoking chimney to represent Manchester’s industrial history.
Remember to bring your skates and take a spin around the ice rinks located at the New Bailey and the Great Northern Warehouse. If skating isn’t your thing then why not try out the Carol-oke at Bar Hutte in Spinningfields. For more information about the markets opening times, locations and how to get there, visit the Manchester City Council’s website.
