Sawmill Development Gets Underway

New developments in Manchester keep on coming with yet another site undergoing transformation in Ancoats. Sawmill Court is located in the Ancoats Conservation Area on the intersection of Murray Street, Jersey Street, Blossom Street and Bengal Street. The new development will see more than 150 new apartments in the area.

This work is being undertaken by Manchester Life Development Company, a joint venture between Manchester City Council and Manchester City Football Club. It is hoped that the development will bring even more people to live closer to Manchester city centre.

Sawmill Court will be made up of 158 one, two and three bedroom apartments, plus a large parking space, club room, gym and courtyard for residents. There will also be eight commercial units on the ground floor.

Executive Chairman of Manchester Life Development Company, Marty Edelman said, “Sawmill Court is going to be a transformative development for Ancoats. The residents’ courtyard and onsite facilities and services will make this a flagship rental property for the area, and the anticipated commercial tenants will provide exciting new options for Ancoats residents.

Eric Wright Construction has been chosen as the contractor and expects the work to be completed by summer 2018.

This development will bring even more life to the Ancoats and Islington area and will be a great opportunity for young professionals wanting to live close to the city centre. The apartments will offer fantastic access to the Northern Quarter and up and coming areas such as NOMA and the Green Quarter.
